Guess which person said that - _____ -

With both the VAs and the mood of Gintama, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is shaping up to be the random comedy that we need this season. The combination of the crazy voices from normal looking people and  the surreal humor that often goes beyond mere slapstick is something that resonates within me and (I hope) will resonate with you.

The sound aspect is minimal. The OP (Shiny Tale by Mix Speaker's, Inc) is suitably epic (including lyrics) for this epic ordinary-high-school series, and I really like how they used the male vocals with the notes (little vibrato, lots of sustained notes). If you can't sound like Breaking Benjamin in Japanese, it's still fine if you can sound like a KPop singer. The ED (Ohisama by Amesaki Annanin) is just weird, but the OP makes up for it so I'm fine. I've weaned off listening to EDs nowadays because most of them are low-quality. Sigh...terrible, terrible.

Graphics are simple, as they need to be. Simple graphics are much better for comedy series because slapstick and surreal humor become so much easier to draw and recognize. Nothing more to say on this front - it's still Sunrise smooth, but not in the way that you think it should be.

And the plot...well, what can I say about the plot? It's hilarious. Other than Nichijou, I don't remember the last time I laughed twice within the first 42 seconds of the first episode. It's great if you like the type of humor it presents. If, on the other hand, you find this type of thing to be sophomoric, I'd suggest you stay away from it. But anyways, this is the best that the comedy genre has to offer this season, so don't miss it!

Status: Watching eagerly every week.
