Conclusion: Ben-To

What the hell was that?

Oh...it was Ben-To.

Here, take this bag of trash. It may be useful to you on your journey.

For the third time in a row, I'm not really sure what to say of this series. However, the reason for why is quite different from before. This had a very interesting premise - but I'm not gonna lie and say it was an anime that had an easy path due to its background. However, I felt that this series' mini-arcs re-hashed the same "lesson" that it preached over and over again. Now while that's fine and all (after all, look at how To Aru Majutsu no Index works), the lesson shouldn't be taught in the same way - people do get bored easily, y'know.

Anyways, the graphics were great and shiny - strong lines, great particle effects and use of computer drawings. I think this series had better action scenes than Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, and that tells you something (or maybe not, since Kyoukai's fighting scenes are either 10 minutes of posing or playing tag). But what else do you expect from the studio that helped produce Code Geass and Soul Eater? They'd BETTER be this good, that's what.

REFRESHING!

The soundtrack was nondescript for the most part. The OP/ED combo were fine though, I liked both well enough. One nitpicky thing I would like to point out is for an OP relevant to the series to focus on the actual song above making sure that the lyrics preach the damn themes in the series. I don't want to sing along to a sermon, I want an OP.

The story is where things get a bit rough. I like creative stories a lot, but I feel as if David Productions saw the summary and themes of the light novel on one sheet of paper and the phrase "12 EPISODE SEASON" on another sheet, threw their hands up in the air in disgust, and winged the whole thing without planning any sort of ending for it. I mean, this is pretty much how I see the series:

Intro + rules --> Monarch mini-arc --> concludes by saying that a true wolf is one that fights for the food honorably and all that junk --> harem additions --> harem additions --> Orthros arc --> concludes by saying that a true wolf is one that fights for the food honorably and all that junk --> end

^WTF?

PRIDE OF WOLVES
WOLVES OF PRIDE

I dunno. I just don't appreciate how they introduce a cool new series and then just spend 12 episodes screwing around not doing anything interesting. The fight scenes were pretty much the same thing - Satou uppercutting everyone in the stomach and running for the plates, then getting whupped hard by the newest boss in the level store. Then he licks his wounds, learns all about the villains and how they don't even want the food (seriously then, why don't you just fight it out in a dark alley somewhere like normal people), and then defeats them through the power of heart. He's just like Touma in Index...only bad.

All in all, I don't think this was a series worth watching. The girls weren't even that good.

Forget the last sentence. Please.
