ExtraCareful's Soundtrack Pick of the Week

Don't worry. The posts...are coming.

Burst the Gravity (Accel World OP2)
ALTIMA

If I had a penny for every time I saw this on a poster for Accel World...

Every once in a while, a fripSide composer comes in quite handy. After all, that's the case with Burst the Gravity. Helping to keep the beat intense and trance-y while everything else is going on (random rapping and singing) is no mean feat, and I congratulate Yaginuma Satoshi for pulling it off. The rapper (Segawa Mototaka)'s relatively...vocab-short English can be overlooked by the fact that he keeps his number of lines small for the most part. But the crowning feature of this song (and why it's the Soundtrack Pick of this week) is most definitely the enchanting vocals provided by Kurosaki Maon. Able to both shout along with the beat and immediately transition (or slowly decrescendo) into an almost quiet, but very sensual voice that cuts through the instrumentals, all while keeping an excellent sense of rhythm with her lyrics, this is one singer that I'll definitely be looking around to find albums of.

Her voice is the major reason that this became one of my more favorite songs, as repetitive as it was. Take a listen - I don't think you'll regret it.

I have warned you.
