ExtraCareful's Soundtrack Pick of the Week

Rejoice! Yet another Soundtrack Pick of the Week. I'll be delving into more creative stuff (outside just anime series) later, since I have been scavenging around AnimeSharing for individual albums...too bad they just release random stuff as it comes into their reach though. Much cleaner than JPz downloads though.

Zzz (Nichijou ED1)
Sayaka Sasaki

After ragequitting out of a really bad game, this music does wonders to heal my wounded soul.

As if Nichijou just wasn't satisfied with having one of the best graphics department and humor shticks of the year in addition to two splendid OPs made by Hyadain, they just have to shove it into everybody's face that they are indeed ballers by forcing Wikipedia to make a expandable customized chart just for their list of EDs. And surprise! None of them are bad. In fact, Zzz is probably one of the catchiest "quiet" songs I know. It can get your energy up, but I've also used it to fall asleep - how weird is that? The sparkly tone of the synth is very nicely used, and Sasaki's gentle murmur is a perfect vocal main for this tune (this song actually sounds like something ClariS should have done, but ah well...) Anyways, take a look! It's not often that both the OPs and EDs of a single series turns out well. Here are some other versions:

A girls' a cappella version? You sure do spoil me, Nichijou :3

Bossa Nova version...I guess she tries to add a more "jazz club" + sexy feel to it. Dem word liaisons...Not to say this is bad at all. Still better than anything Hayate no Gotoku could make after 2 seasons of filler crap.

As well as a remix that I really enjoy:

This Electro remix is good, but there's also the Club remix in the Related Videos section - check that out too!

In other news, the upcoming collab ED for Nisemonogatari between supercell and ClariS has left me instinctively giddy, but also a little ambivalent about the implications. ClariS seems to fit the whole "flat/no-vibrato voice + synth" songs better (I mean, she's been doing that for all of her singles and OPs) and I'm not sure how supercell's more natural rock and roll style will jive with that. Anyways, let's see how it comes out!
