ExtraCareful's Soundtrack Pick of the Week

All right, here's another soundtrack pick of the week!

Joint (Shakugan no Shana II OP 1)
Mami Kawada

Shana always manages to look badass for some reason

Joint is Kawada's highest-ranking and longest-lasting single, and for good reason - it plays to her strengths. With little vibrato and lots of repeated notes/long-lasting climax notes, she's able to belt it out with her very flexible and strong voice (her unique style, that is). All you need for proof really is just 1:07~1:28. I also really really like the balance between the vocals and the instrumental support - neither one has a monopoly over the other and I appreciate that. The song is creative, the leitmotif is catchy, and the fillers are good. The drums just remind us of the steady beat and stay in the background, not noisily clanking around covering the vocals up. Overall it's a very good OP, even if it's more overshadowed by its cousins the To Aru Majutsu no Index OPs. Anyways, as always, enjoy the song!
