ExtraCareful's (Another Late) Soundtrack Pick of the Week

Sorry for being late...wanted to give myself a bit of a break there. Anyways, here it is (sorry for being unoriginal; this is definitely a cop-out and I'll be creative next time lols).

Change!!!! (THE iDOLM@STER OP2)
765PRO Allstars

Furai farrrrrrrrr awayyyyyyyyy

In retrospect I should stop with the Mayo Chiki reference, but it's just sooooo useful...

Anyways, this is a bit more active and clap/syncopation-based (0:10~0:23, 0:57~1:08) than Ready!! was. I personally find this a lot better to have on my MP3 player simply because it's a bit lighter than Ready!!'s huge-ass trumpet fanfares into nonsensical guitar solo. This change of tone really helps boost that 'iM@S' feel, especially with the supposed 'happy teenage idol' voice that everyone has. Also, Change!!!! has more exclamation marks. Your argument is invalid.

Change!!!! also has a really good TV OP animation - gotta hand it to the studio, they know how to set up an OP worth seeing. One of the few openings I didn't click my tongue at. The ending part with all of the girls flying through the air was a very nice touch.

It falls into the same pitfalls as Ready!! though in some aspects - that is, having the weirdest instrumentation at the weirdest times. I know string orchestral openers (0:00~0:10) are cool, but...they don't...lead smoothly into clap/beat/synth/vocals. Uhm...I dunno. Personally, I like it because it's something new, but it's definitely not something that everybody might like. Same deal with that minor seventh jump (2:43) into a cappella - unexpected, but not unwelcome.

But it still has that guitar solo (3:01~3:24). Why must it have a guitar solo...why...why?! You have synth trumpets, female idol vocals, clap beats, and violin/synth strings all jostling each other in the same compartment. WHY would you bring an 'obligatory' electric guitar solo part in?

The standard vocal solo part was cute I guess. Nothing special.

Again, just like many iM@S songs, Change!!!! is hugely repetitive, so don't go looking for Dvorak-like variations in this song...seriously. However, if you needed that jolt of energy and joy at night or when you have trouble waking up during the day, then blast this for full effect.
