Kochi (Clannad Insert Song/VN Theme)
Shinji Orito, Arr. by KEY Studios
Sorry, no full version of the piano arrangement is available on YouTube. But there are millions of sites with the full piano version, so...go out and explore, I guess.
The English translation for the name should be pretty obvious upon looking at the video...the name fits this piece very well though.
The reason I really like Clannad to calm myself down is that everything fits perfectly like a goddamn 1000-piece puzzle. From the timing to the humor to the scenery to the tension, there's nothing I can rave about that hasn't been said before me in much more teary-eyed fashion. But When 100% of the insert pieces/themes force you to notice them for their beauty and how they fit in the situation, that's when you go, "I think I'll sleep peacefully tonight."
What I especially like is that there's really nothing extravagant about it - it's just a piano piece, no synth, no random decoration, no auto-tune, just a bit of reverb. But in the end, simple is best. It lets you think. And when music lets you do that while tugging on your emotions...great.
The main phrase is from 0:01~0:31. The second part of that phrase from 0:17~0:23 is my favorite - those descending chords essentially define the current mood of the piece and again, contrasts with a lot of crap flying around inside other anime series these days. For this and much much more, Kochi deserves to be the Soundtrack Pick of the Week.
hrm this version is slower than i usually heard it in the anime
