ExtraCareful's Soundtrack Pick(s) of the Week

All right, here are TWO treats for you:
Straight Jet (Infinite Stratos OP)
Kuribayashi Minami
Super Stream (Infinite Stratos ED)
Hikasa Yoko
For being such a shallow (but still good - it's definitely a guilty pleasure) anime, Infinite Stratos is one of the very, very few series that has both a remarkable OP AND ED. I seriously can't think of the last time this happened - except for maybe Clannad (Season 1)/Haruhi Suzumiya (Season 1)/Rosario+Vampire (Both seasons), and even those are controversial - there are some who like Dango Daikazoku, and there are some that don't. Some are fine with Hare Hare Yukai and so forth. But IS definitely has both a popular OP/ED and I'll talk about both here.
Here's the OP:
There was one Youtube comment on an IS OP video that said: "I like the one with the boobs". I'd just like to praise him for his decision-making skills right here.
Although others like the ED, I prefer the OP over it. Nice beat, synth heavy but it's obviously supposed to be. It has one major part that gets repeated over and over, which is different from a phrase lasting a few seconds that goes through variations. It's sort of like the Toradora! OP. It gives a much...grander sense than Super Stream does, which is why I like it, especially the second part. It does sort of make me feel like I'm flying, especially in the second part with the vocal solo section. Overall it's a very good song and you should check out the above video.
And here's the ED:
I can see why it's more popular - it's much more energetic than the OP, which makes you think less and move along with it more. It also mixes in the voices of each girl (guess which one is which - it shouldn't be that hard) and has a pretty catchy theme that's easier to hum than the longer one in the OP. Sometimes I feel like it's compensating for the lack of different melodies by boosting the volume up a notch and having everybody sing in unison. But anyways, in short, it's the hyperactive brother of the OP. However, this just means that they have different styles - both are very good in their own rights and both deserve to be a Soundtrack Pick of the Week.

  1. Not many animes with good op and ed? Keep watching TTGL until you reach the 2nd ed son.
