Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi - C (Nichijou OP 1)
Hyadain
Hyadain no Joujou Yuujou (Nichijou OP 2)
Hyadain
Three things I have learned not to doubt this summer season are: Kyoto Animations, P.A. Works, and Hyadain. This guy is damn good - he did both of the good Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu OPs, the Dragon Crisis ED (Mirai Bowl) which I found at the very least interesting and at best pretty addictive, and the MM! ED (More-more LOVERS!!). His distinct, very energetic phrases that grab you and never let go are what makes me fall for his songs. And these two are no different.
Here's OP number 1:
Roll cakes. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This OP is one of the major factors that made me fall in love with this show. For some reason it just doesn't stop - very reminiscent of the Baka to Test OPs. The guy (Hyadain) vs the girl chorus back-and-forth is also very creative. He emphasizes his lack of vibrato to make the song more wacky than usual, which is a plus because there are some singers out there who can't sing but try anyways with the wrong songs....and fail. The slow part that suddenly appears from 0:32~0:53 is also an excellent contrast to the fast parts. Build-up is good, there doesn't really seem to be many fillers, if any. Also a thumbs up for having the characters sing it IN the OP. This was pretty much the only OP that I wanted to watch over and over before the show actually started. Excellent OP, 5 stars.
And here's.....OP 2!
Lots of stuttering, but if you can get past the eccentricities, this is a REALLY great remix. Try it!

And here's.....OP 2!
Even crazier. Can you believe it? I can't. Until I heard this, that is.
This OP is the crazier, happier cousin of the first. Yes - crazier, and happier. Jesus. Great use of the light floaty voice in that certain lower range that only males can pull off (e.g.: 0:57~0:59). This thing is more all-over-the-map than the first OP is though, so if you're looking for more of a crazy than energetic song, this OP is for you. Still very very good. Enjoy!
As a bonus, there are two remixes of these OPs that I personally really liked and are definitely in my Top 15-20 Remixes list. Here they are:
Guitars are just too good when mixed into this OP. OP1 on steroids.
Lots of stuttering, but if you can get past the eccentricities, this is a REALLY great remix. Try it!

For those of you who want a manga to read, I recommend Sugar Dark. It's pretty cool, has a tinge of romance but also drama/tension/supernatural elements. No it's not about kicking the ass of monsters. Close though. Check it out!
Huh.
Nichijou was soooo good.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed glorious.
