ExtraCareful's Soundtrack Picks of the Week

Oook, here are two of my more favorite soundtracks this week. I think you'll find these short beauts to your liking.

Break Through Love and War - Run, Oh Maiden (Koihime Musou Visual Novel BGM)
BaseSon

This piece kicks in only rarely, but when it does, it's at the perfect times.

It may just be me, but I honestly like all of the BGM/songs in the Koihime Musou visual novel. If you have time, I'd definitely recommend going through all of the songs/BGM pieces for the VN. They're quality pieces and infinitely repeatable (as obvious as it sounds, there are some pieces in some games that are rather...annoying to hear repeated). This one (I think Bachou's [Ma Chao in Chinese] theme) is one of my favorites. It's a bit of the short side and repetitive, but then it's not meant to be overly creative. However, the theme is very catchy and doesn't try to overly stick out with decorations. It uses synth/electric effects very nicely to give an "Oriental" feel while keeping the momentum going forward. Very good piece to get you on your feet.

Love Everywhere (Koihime Musou Visual Novel BGM)
BaseSon

Played during pretty much all the gentle scenes. Can't say I ever get tired of it though.

This one is also very good with regards to replay-ability. The focus on the piano and then the addition of the erhu sounds + bells to again give that Asiatic feel just makes me shiver each time. Call me a sucker for this type of music, but this gentle soundtrack is just so good at relaxing my mind.

Will Stretching a Thousand Miles (Koihime Musou Visual Novel BGM)
BaseSon

Played at the title screen. It's actually hard to find on the official music collection for some reason though.

The last hand-picked piece out of the BGM collection is one that makes me feel similar to the one above, but not exactly. I really like the choice of the echo/reverb + music box/xylophone choice they made. It makes the phrase seem small but at the same time played in a large place. I dunno. It just makes me feel really good. Anyways, enjoy these three pieces and see you next week!
